The City of Galva was pleased to host the annual Abilities Plus picnic in Wiley Park again this year. The annual event, which is sponsored and managed by the Galva Lion's Club, kicks off around noon. This year, our guests were escorted to the Park by the Galva Fire Department, whose engine was driven by none other than the Galva Fire Chief, Denny Tarleton. Bringing up the rear of the motorcade was Galva Police Chief Kraig Townsend.
Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas (Zydeco) and Seasaw (Pop rock) provided the entertainment on July 8th in Wiley Park. Victoria, with the Levitt Foundation, was the special guest of the Galva Arts Council and was recognized by Emcee Jason Bates prior to the evening's entertainment.
Bishop Hill's Civil War Day this year was orgainized by the Bishop Hill Heritage Association and was sponsored by Community State Bank and the Galesburg Community Foundation. The program, which free and open to the public, consisted of a Civil War Encampment, an Artillery Demonstration, a Skirmish between Union and Confederate Troops, a Medical Demonstration, a performance by "Fox" Ellis as General John "Black Jack" Logan, a concert by Troubadour Dan Haughey and a concert by The Drummer Boy of Shiloh.
In conjunction with the Galva Lions Club, the City of Galva is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Abilities Plus Annual Picnic and Awards Program. The Galva Lion's Club hosted the Abilities Plus Annual Awards Banquet in beautiful Wiley Park. This year, croquet was added to the sport of kick ball.
